It is not evil that will conquer evil, but only love.

Some ideologies, or isms, veer towards the one side of secularist and modernist Liberalism, which puts sinful man above Christ, others veer towards the other side of sectarian and pharisaical Donatism, which condemns and enslaves human-beings to vindictive and merciless gurus. Regardless of which ideology, or ism, it is, they are all opposed to the Church of Christ.
This is because those ideologies are based on personal pride, which is the essence of spiritual impurity. The prime example of this is Arius, who tried to corrupt the Church’s teaching on Christ with his own personal rationalistic imaginations, repeating the sin of Judas, who thought that he knew better than his Maker. Arius finished very badly, in his own human waste.
Ideologies are opposed by those who pursue the Truth of Christ, for like all other ideologies, or isms, both Arian Liberalism and Monophysite Donatism are based on a lack of Love, which is what the Truth of Christ consists of. There are so many examples of this in history, from Job the Much-Suffering in the Old Testament to our own New Testament times:
St John Chrysostom, who was chased out of the City by an empress of evil glory who denied the Gospel, but justified by the people who loved him and then by the hierarchy, who caught up with the people, who proclaimed him a saint.
St Gregory Palamas, attacked by swim-with-the-tide secularists like the humanist Greek-Italian Varlaam, who did not know the Holy Spirit, but St Gregory was justified by Church Councils, which proclaimed him a saint.
St Mark of Ephesus, who alone stood for Orthodoxy against all the hierarchs who had been corrupted by the emperor, but was justified and loved by the people and then by the repentant hierarchy, who proclaimed him a saint.
St Paisy (Velichkovsky) of Neamt, chased out of the Russian Empire by an atheist German Empress and those with her, but venerated by monastics and all those who love prayer everywhere, who proclaimed him a saint.
St Nectarius of Aegina, who should have become Patriarch, chased out of the Patriarchate of Alexandria by a corrupt and jealous hierarchy who had fallen into decadence, but was loved by the people, who proclaimed him a saint.
St John of Shanghai, who was slandered and put on trial by his fellow hierarchs, and within three years went to heaven, exhausted by persecution, but was loved by the people, who proclaimed him a saint.
Today nothing has changed, first among the Slavs and then among the Greeks:
Metr Onufry, deprived of his nationality and persecuted by the neo-pagan, nationalist Ukrainian State and at the same time attacked by Russian nationalists who only accept their own nationality and language.
Metr Tychikos of Paphos, deposed in Cyprus by corrupt and mercenary hierarchs who obeyed atheist and mercenary politicians, both foreign and local, but is loved by the people and will like St Job be restored.
The Confessors of the Faith resist hierarchies and emperors, who are corrupted by wealth or power and quench the Spirit (1 Thess 5:19). But we are not corruptible and cannot be manipulated. And all those who attack have compromised themselves, taking the side of evil, showing that they lack Truth and Love. But Truth and Love always conquer all ideologies.
